Enterprise Express MPLS White PaperEnterprise Express MPLS Case Study
  • Layer 3 IP routing (RFC 2547)
  • Ability to use private IP address blocks
  • Multiple access options (EFM, NXT1, Gig-E)
  • Any-to-any connectivity between sites
  • Enhanced Service Level Agreement
  • Control of Internet and internal network traffic
  • Centralized Management
  • Ethernet hand-off at customer premises for all access types
  • Ability to mix connection options (EFM, NxT1)
  • Secure communication
  • Integration of voice, internet and private network traffic
  • Predictable service levels. Priority data must be delivered in a reliable and timely manner. MPLS offers flexible traffic flow planning using standard classes of service, providing end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) for mission critical applications such as transaction processing, voice and video.
  • Security. Customers’ MPLS traffic is completely contained within a dedicated Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) domain, ensuring that customer traffic is automatically forwarded across Cavalier’s MPLS backbone and can only be delivered to its original intended destination.
  • Scalability. Set up only one connection per site, no matter how many locations. MPLS automatically provides fully-meshed, any to any connectivity without the need for complex routing configurations. Additionally sites can easily be added without the need to reconfigure the network or make any changes to existing sites or routing.
  • High availability. MPLS ensures the availability and transmission of all applications. Cavalier’s MPLS backbone provides multiple Label Switched Paths (LSPs) to all MPLS POPs and failover options can be configured to route traffic to alternate access facilities to provide enhanced resiliency at critical sites.
  • Flexibility. Customers can combine voice and multiple data applications onto their choice of network access options, including T1, Ethernet Express, DS3, SONET and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Manageability. Fully flexible traffic flow planning using standard classes of services (CoS) allows customers to consolidate their traffic on a single network while ensuring that critical applications receive the bandwidth they need.
  • Simplicity. Customer’s IT staff and routers are shielded from any implementation details as all MPLS labeling is performed on the Cavalier network and MPLS labels are never passed to the customer router.
