Layer 2 switched service enables customer to maintain control over IP routing decisions and protocols
Ability to provide native, end-to-end Ethernet connections over multiple access technologies (EFM, SONET, T1 etc)
Accommodates non-IP traffic
Maintains customer VLAN tagging
Ethernet hand-off
Secure communication
Bandwidth can be increased quickly
Integration of voice, internet and private network traffic
Predictable service levels. Priority data must be delivered in a reliable and timely manner. VPLS offers flexible traffic flow planning using standard classes of service, providing end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) for mission critical applications such as transaction processing, voice and video.
Security. Customers’ VPLS traffic is completely contained within a dedicated Layer 2 switch domain with all routing and VLAN segmentation done on the customers’ equipment.
High availability. VPLS ensures the availability and transmission of all applications. Cavalier’s MPLS backbone provides multiple paths to all POPs and failover options can be configured to route traffic to alternate access facilities to provide enhanced resiliency at critical sites.
Transparency. Extend your existing LAN to a remote site without the need for any configuration changes, sub-netting or even deploying a router. Ethernet devices at both sites will automatically communicate as if they are in the same building.
Scalability. Set up only one connection per site, no matter how many locations. VPLS automatically provides bridged, any to any connectivity without requiring routing. Services grow easily without labor-intensive configuration changes.
Customizability. Customers can control their own IP routing, transport non-IP traffic and leverage VLANs for traffic segmentation while getting the benefits of an MPLS backbone.
Flexibility. Customers can leverage the most cost effective type of access including T1, Ethernet Express, DS3 or SONET.
Simplicity. All customer sites appear as a single Ethernet access circuit, allowing your LAN professionals to work with a familiar technology.
