Definition of C.O.
In Telecommunication terms, a C.O. designates the telephone company's Central Office . The C.O. is the equipment center designed to serve communication traffic within a specific geographic area. The local C.O. is the primary connection between the end user (you) and the telephone company (us). Within the CO are the electronic switches and other equipment that makes the actual connections and transmit data to other COs or communicates to long distance signal carriers. The physical location of each C.O. is the measure is used for mileage calculations for toll service (long distance).
