IP Centrex is the phrase that refers to VoIP telephony solutions where Centrex service is offered to customers who transmits voice signals to the network as packetized streams usually across a broadband access connection. IP Centrex builds on the normal benefits of Centrex by combining them with the benefits IP telephony. One of the benefits of IP telephony is the increased capacity of the network allowing customers to use existing broadband connections to carry packetized voice streams for many simultaneous calls as well as data for high speed data sessions over the LAN such as Internet access. .
